Family Selection
Do you meet the following eligibility requirements?
Current Living Conditions:
• Substandard- Faulty plumbing, unsafe electrical wiring, no heat or cooling systems, building code violations, converted spaces for living quarters.
• Overcrowded- Is the place where you live to small for the size of your family? Do you share a house with another family (shared housing)? Do you live in an unsafe neighborhood?
You must be a U.S. Citizen or legal resident and have been a Coachella Valley resident for at least two years.
Income limits:
Total income of all family members from all sources, employment, child support and or SSI, Social Security Disability or Retirement, Pensions, and other benefits must be included. Total gross income (before deductions) must fall on or below the limit listed for your size family.

Ability to Pay:
You must demonstrate a history of financial responsibility with steady employment and / or other income sources. Copies of income tax returns for the past 2 years will be required as well as credit checks.
You agree upon completion of the home, to make a modest down payment payable to Habitat for Humanity.
You agree to provide 200 hours of “sweat equity” building your home or others.
You must be willing to live in whatever Coachella Valley city and/or neighborhood in which Habitat is building or renovating.
The family living in the worst conditions that meet all the qualifications will receive first considerations.
